In response to the Blogging 201 course Day 1, Set 3 goals.
I have been blogging for almost two years now. I recently gave my blog a new theme, and defined the focus slightly by writing shorter, more concise posts. What I wish to do now is-
- Gain more followers, both here in the WordPress community and via social media.
- Write more frequently (once a week is my target) but keeping my blog idea. I don’t want to meet the goal by writing anything, just to satisfy that I kept a bargain with myself. Instead I want to continue exploring my blog’s theme further, week in and week out.
- Because of the nature of my blog, I want to have frequent guest bloggers, putting their own spin on the theme and encouraging the idea even further.
Hiya! I love short and concise posts – I think it’s a genius strategy. Thanks again for following me!

And thank you in return for following mine! It made me a little sad that over time my longer posts weren’t getting much attention, so basically I chose the if you can’t beat them, join them attitude lol! But in truth it does seem to be working. Longer blogs may escape every once in awhile, but I like this new approach. Happy blogging!

I try to break up longer posts from time to time. Sometimes we have a lot to say, a long post may be necessary. Btw, I want to get into photography. Have any tips for a Day 1 rookie?

Tips for photography…oh boy, so much to say, but really if you are essentially a rookie, just take photos all the time. Experiment with lighting, with angles, with shooting in black and white and color. Don’t go too big scale at first. Focus on smaller things, different textures or colors that appeal to you. Because that is what photography is all about, a reflection of you, which is why I won’t say too much more if you get my drift 🙂 Follow other photographers for inspiration but make your own inspiration and above all, keep taking photos! And you are right about the short/long blogs.

Great point- there’s this photo I took of a flower in Ecuador that fits the bill perfectly. I’m going to be bold and post it tomorrow. I’m inspired!

I love your theme. I almost chose this one but went with Canard instead. I love color, which you seem to appreciate color also. I agree, short blogs keep ones attention, at least for me. I follow a couple of bloggers that have longer blogs, however, they are so excellent I read the entire blog. I am also trying to master my theme and learn how to tweak it. You have a new follower. 🙂

As do you! And I love your theme too, Checking your blog out now. Looks great. I told someone else tonight on here that my longer blogs may still escape from time to time but I feel like I am on the right track with my blog. Plus it helps me write more frequently which I think is a plus. Thanks for the comment!

I love the idea of you having guest bloggers. Not because I don’t want to read what you have to write, quite the contrary. But, i think your theme is perfect for guest bloggers telling the story of music and photos/travel. Best of luck to you.

Thank you. I know what you mean about the theme. With all these new bloggers I have come across (hint, hint) I’m going to do some asking. Plus a friend of mine who is a great musician had started one but got distracted. Seeing her this weekend though so the pressure is on! Thanks so much

Wow, two years is incredible! Honestly, when I first started my blog I didn’t think I’d stay committed but I’m so glad I did. I hope to reach my 2 year mark someday. Guest bloggers sounds like a lovely idea, Robert! Good luck with that feature! And I look forward to your weekly writing goals! ^.^

Thanks so much! In some ways I can’t believe it has been that long. In case you hadn’t noticed I feel really re-energized about blogging and glad I have become more active in the community. You will get there with your own fine blog! Just keep doing it for yourself. Thanks for the comment as always 🙂

I really want to take your 2nd goal, I sometimes get so caught up and forget to post, I need to make it more of a habit!! Good luck with your goals I’m sure you are going to meet them.

Thank you so much! I was just thinking I hadn’t seen you in awhile. I want to see all those Miami photos! One thing I am planning on trying with time off I have coming up in the next few weeks is spending a day writing. Just writing several blogs back to back that I can spread out over time rather than finding the time to do one once a week. Good luck and I truly hope to see you again soon 😄

wonderful goals! Once a week can be a little difficult sometimes, especially when we have a lot of life-stuff going on. You can do it though!!!

Thank you! Life will get in the way sometimes as you say and there is not much you can do about it. But refocusing my blogs to be shorter has definitely helped me sneak away a few moments to write now, so I hope to keep the goal. Appreciate the comment!

Absolutely! I just had to take a little more than a week off due to a job change and a move. It was difficult to find time, and I did not have internet for a while. It’s very nice to have the goal though, to keep you at least focused on it, even if you have some off weeks.
