Thank You Bloggers!

The blogger at work!

Before the clock runs out on 2015 I wanted to take a few moments to say thank you. Whether you are reading this blog for the first time or you are a repeat reader, I sincerely thank you. In two years of writing Soundtrack Of A Photograph this has by far been the best and most successful year. Partly that has been down to pure numbers, and in those number of views, followers and comments the blog has done well. But far more importantly than that are the friendships I have made with some fellow bloggers this year.

Over the summer in one of my posts I described how I briefly thought of actually ending this blog, but instead I decided to make a number of changes. Shorter posts, only one photo per post usually, and a new theme got me excited to post more and I began interacting with more bloggers. Then I took a course here on WordPress and came in contact with so many diverse and creative bloggers and we all became a huge support network of one another. I added another element to my regular blogs called ‘Photo Shuffle’ and I did my first collaboration with a blogger from New Orleans. The results of all of this activity has been wonderful but the best thing about it is the friendships I have made. The following bloggers listed below are mostly ones I have come across this year, along with a few that I have been following for longer than that. More than that, every single one of them is a friend.

So thank you and Happy Holidays to all of you. Please forgive me if I missed anyone, I assure you it wasn’t intentional! Please do yourself a favor and check out all of these wonderful bloggers!

Carol at Writeful Mind is a prolific blogger on a variety of topics. She also spends a lot of time thinking about blogging, which gives her a wealth of information she readily shares with all.  Her blogs are engaging and honest with a healthy dose of humor included. Oh, and lots and lots of coffee!

Danielle at The Thought Card writes a life and travel blog. Her tag line is ‘Embrace The Adventurous Spirit’ which she does with one of the most infectious attitudes towards life in general. Expect to see The Thought Card grow to something much bigger with Danielle in control. The sky is the limit with Danielle as you will read!

Tasha writes a blog about women’s self defense and safety, but the tips she provides in her blogs are good for everyone and are often the types of things one does not think about. She also posts a Funny Fridays feature which always gets my weekend started off right. She also likes to tease me about my shoe box apartment compared to her luxurious Midwest digs 😉

Soranny is an amazing photographer I came across through Community Pool on WordPress. We both admired each others work and decided to do a collaboration blog about bridges. Definitely one of the most fun things I have been a part of with blogging and I look forward to working with her again. Her photography is special.

Scott is actually someone I have known for awhile now here in New York. Fellow neighborhood resident, bartender, and an excellent writer who never fails to crack me up with his posts. Even the title of his blog gets me every time! Take an afternoon and go through the vast catalog of his posts folks, you will not regret it!

Liza is a writer. Pure and simple. Mark my words you will be reading much more from her in the future. There are a lot of people like me who write interesting blogs. Then there are pure writers like Liza. Like me she sometimes takes inspiration from songs for her writing. Or sometimes she doesn’t. Either way she is one of my favorite writers.

Janani writes the blog Jan’s Doodles, which is a little bit of everything. She has a section on her blog about ways to spend time screen free which I especially love. She also has a strong social conscious and writes about important issues like domestic abuse. She and I also shared the same love for one somewhat obscure piece of art in the Metropolitan Museum Of Art so right away just based on that, she is a friend!

Anna is another blogger I have known for about a year now. Her blog Monochrome Moments is another one of my favorite photography sites. Anna also writes her own poems based around her monochrome photography. You will fall in love with her photos and her words.

Krstn is someone I came across in the blogging course. She is another blogger who just writes so openly and honestly about what is going on in her life, good or bad. She has a great segment sometimes called Little Victories, where she recounts what has happened to her in the past week that was positive, no matter how small. Her blogs always make me think about ways I can make different choices in my own life.

Tony is one of my oldest and dearest friends. He was writing blogs before anyone else. He probably knew the words social media before everyone else too. He is a minister and has been a tireless human rights activist nearly his entire life. I have noticed he has been posting more on his blog recently. Which is a great thing for all of us. I just wish he wasn’t a Red Sox fan!

Amy writes a terrific blog called Circa 77. They are little snippets of her life that are part of a longer series that will be a book one day. And it will Amy…don’t give up. Her stories are so vivid and leave me wanting more. As a matter of fact, Amy how about giving me a proof reading copy 😉

Amrita is another blogger I came across in Community Pool several months ago. Her blog Of Opinions is a culture blog, which is a nice way of saying it is some of the best and most thought provoking essays in the entire blogosphere. Her ideas are always solid, her opinions are always spot on, her views are always meaningful. Virtually every comment we make to one another eventually works its way around to music! Amrita, I will get around to that guest post one of these days, along with watching Dylan Moran and listening to Kate Bush. I promise!

Summer is a young blogger who writes about books. Lots and lots of books. Rather than taking selfies, she takes ‘shelfies’, photos of her books (and there are many) lined up on her bookshelves. She also leaves me some of the best comments. Though how on earth she has time for all of this and being a college student I will never know!

Trudy at Rendezvous En New York writes a terrific lifestyle blog about my own city that makes me feel like a tourist, so fully does she charge into everything this great city has to offer. Food, concerts, things to do, places to go…Trudy knows them all seemingly and writes about them with ease. Whether you know New York well or are planning on a visit, do check out her blog.

Again, if I missed anyone I apologize, I’ll get you the next time. But just know that if we have shared words on each others blogs, if we have enjoyed each others work, then this post is for you as well. You all help sustain me and drive me towards making my blogs better. Thank you to all of my fellow bloggers. Enjoy the holidays!

Aww.. thanks Rob! That is so sweet if you 🙂 You are one amazing person who encourages people. I love how you take time to read and comment on posts. It is very rare for people to spend time for others. And I love forward to this friendship 🙂

  2. I can’t tell you how honored I am that you have mentioned me in this post. We have become great friends in the short time we’ve known each other and you have been awesome when it comes to your support, encouragement, brainstorming, help with the Café Blog sites, and silliness during chats. I look forward to the next year and know that we’re going accomplish a lot in every aspect! Thanks, also, for the awesome people you have put me in contact with. I feel blessed to have made good friends through you.

    This made my day. Thank you for the lift when I needed it most. {Hugs}

  3. Thank you Rob for all the praise and mentioning me. I really appreciate that. I’m glad I’ve met all of you in our little group, it really does make it feel like community instead of an uphill battle of one. I’m grateful for that, I pray this upcoming year is better for all of us.

    1. Aww well first I really needed to return the favor for your awesome post. As to the taking time it is hard to do that these days generally. We make a lot of excuses I think for ‘being busy.’ But being friends means taking that time, which is why all of you are on this list. You do the same for me and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Lol…being an introvert I am somewhat surprised at being labeled a social butterfly but this blogging world helps break down that wall I think. Thanks as always Tasha 🙂

    1. That wasn’t so long to respond…I posted it less than 24 hours ago lol! I give you feed back because your work is great, and I think you are a nice person too. And talented! Glad you are following some of the other people from this list, they are all great in my eyes, and there are tons more I could have added here too but I was afraid of making it too long! Life gets in the way of all of this stuff sometimes so don’t worry about forcing the ideas out of you, but I literally cannot wait until you do that time theme! Do please mention it to me in case I miss it in the reader. Thank you for working with me and for inspiring me!

  6. Ah, thanks so much for including me in this post! I am very thankful that I started this blog this year, which led me to meet so many bloggers including you, Robert! We’ve talked about this before, but the blogosphere is one of the most welcoming and supportive communities out there and it’s awesome different people with different interests are able to share what they love. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday with your family! (And haha! I use my free time (away from school) blogging and blog hopping; so that explains why I’m kinda/sorta always active on the blogosphere.) 😀

    1. You are very welcome! I owed you one for not doing the Liebster you nominated me for, but beyond that, I genuinely love the spirit you bring to your blogs. If I did not blog about music then my second choice would be books. Which is why I am so happy to have come across you! I love this community and each day that goes by I love it more! Happy holidays to you and yours as well! I will be at my in laws in Alabama for Christmas but I hope you enjoy as well! Thanks as always

  7. Ah, is that the mythical Johnny Cash box set behind you…Keep it safe, that’s all I am saying.

Thank you so much for mentioning me and your lovely words on my blog. I’ve been a lousy blogger this year, especially with reading blogs, as evidenced by how long it took for me to come by this. Nevertheless, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for not only considering me your blogging friend, but also for leaving such generous and thoughtful comments on my blog posts. I really appreciate you taking the time to engage not only with my content, but with so many others’. It is rare to find bloggers who not only take time to work on their own blogs, but offer generous feedback on others. The word “community” gets thrown around quite a lot, and cannot be made to reflect statistically, but know that your enthusiasm is deeply appreciated, and you really have built a community of bloggers around you, as well as made an excellent blog yourself, both of which you should celebrate!

    1. Lol, yes that is indeed the Johnny Cash box set. To gain permission to see its contents I require three forms of identification, a signed letter from an attorney and you must don a biohazard suit! Lol…I just treat it nice and safe. You are very welcome. I enjoy our conversations so much. It is one of the reasons I really love blogging especially. I don’t think we spend enough time conversing with one another these days yet bloggers do. We want to engage with one another in meaningful and rational ways. It does not matter to me that it is reciprocated, I just treasure the conversations that happen whether it is on your blog or mine so do not worry about that. From the bottom of my heart I am so happy to have found your blog and look forward to more!

    1. Aww man…see I knew I was forgetting some people to thank, and you are definitely one of them. Sorry for the slight. Might have to amend my post! You always leave such good comments for me and I’m so happy to have gotten to know not just your blogs, but you! Happy Holidays to you and if you want you should check out Cafe Blog on FB. A number of us from the courses are there and its a great place to keep the vibe of the courses going. Thank you so much. Roll on 2016 🙂

No worries! I’ve been MIA due to some personal/school stuff anyway 🙂 But thanks all the same. I knew I was forgetting to check on something on FB – thank you for reminding me. Will do it today 🙂

      2. Wow! I wish I was that prepared. I do everything one at a time but I’m thinking after Christmas I want to do a little better on mapping my posts. Photo Shuffle was supposed to happen once or twice a week but I haven’t had the time lately it seems. After Christmas I will sort it out

      3. Lol…a little bit of a resolution I suppose! I just like to think about what I want to accomplish. Since that course I’m way more excited to continue blogging so I want to keep going. Never stop moving!

  9. Thanks for the mention, Robert! And that’s for all your support this year. It really means a lot to me. I’m glad you kept going with your blog, and hope you will continue to in the coming year. I look forward to seeing more of your great photos and hearing more of your thoughts (and learning about more music I’ve never heard of before 🙂 ) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!

    1. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Liza! It has been a great year getting to know you and so many other great bloggers. I already am working on a few ideas and I am planning some (hopefully) bigger things in the year to come. I can’t wait to read more from you and also learn more music I don’t know too! I think you and I should consider collaborating some time too 😉

      1. Definitely! By the way, for various reasons we did most of our Christmas early this year, and I got a box set of Stiff Records classics-lots of punk, funk, ska, and lots of stuff in between. I can see lots of blogs coming from this alone! We’ll talk in 2016!
