Monday means it is time for another Monochrome Monday. So here is one I took a year or two ago of a lamp post in Union Square on a cold winter night. Amazing how many different types of lamp posts there are, isn’t it?

This is such an artistic photograph, I love it!!! The contrast between light and dark make everything more powerful than it would be during a “daylight” shot. Well done!

Thank you very much! I take all kinds of shots but this is probably one of the most artistic shots I have ever taken! And I absolutely agree with you about it being more effective as a night time shot. Many thanks!

Looks like one of those abstract photos…that’s what I thought it was at first glance until I read that it’s a lamp post. Really kool!

And of course I can tell it’s a lamp post but it’s really neat pic that you took.

Thanks Tasha! Funny thing is that I remember just sort of visualizing it, how it might turn out from the angle I was standing at under it. But I wasn’t sure how it would turn out as a shot. I thought the dark might be too dark and the lights too bright, etc, but it really came out well. And I can safely say that this is 100% not altered in any way whatsoever!

I love that type of lamppost, wanted one in my yard, when I had a house that had a yard…..😊

I like them too, and the ones that still look like the old gas fired ones!

Great use of positive and negative space to create an interesting abstract composition!
